Rivers
State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, has dissolved the State Independent
Electoral Commission and the Rivers State Judicial Service Commission.
The
dissolution of the two bodies by the governor came few hours after the
State House of Assembly earlier directed the governor to dissolve the
two commissions.

The House had summoned the
chairmen and members of the commissions to give account of their
activities within the last two years.
The state lawmaker, who
were apparently dissatisfied over the explanation of the head of the two
commissions on Monday, empowered Wike to sack the commissioners and
dissolve the commissions.
Wike, in a short statement, signed by
his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Sir Opunabo Inko-Tariah,
explained that he acted in line with the directive of the House on
grounds of official misconduct leveled against the commissions.
