Inter Milan hopeful of signing Yaya Toure

Inter Milan are leading the race to sign Yaya Toure from Manchester City, according to the club’s vice-president Javier Zanetti.

Toure will hold talks with City chiefs at the end of the season but he is widely expected to leave the Etihad Stadium in the summer following an indifferent season.

Inter manager Roberto Mancini has made secret of his desire to sign Toure and the Italian club are confident they are close to agreeing a deal for the 32-year-old.

“We are at the stage where we hope we can complete it,” Zanetti told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Yaya would give us that leap in quality.”
As well as Toure, the Serie A club are targeting a deal for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Thiago Morata.

The Italy international spent three years at Inter before moving to PSG in 2012, but Zanetti is hopeful he will return to the San Siro in the summer.

“If Motta were to arrive, he could give so much,” Zanetti said.

“He knows the club, he has experience, quality and is one of the strongest midfielders that I have ever played with. He is very intelligent.

“To bring players like them would give us that leap in quality.”
