N255m Armoured Cars Scandal: "Only presidency can decide on Stella Oduah’s prosecution" - House of Reps

The House of Representatives Thursday said the presidency, and not the legislature, should decide whether or not to prosecute a former Minister of Aviation, Ms. Stella Oduah, whom it investigated over her connection with the procurement of two BMW bulletproof cars, valued at N255 million.

Speaking on what would happen to Oduah, who was dropped from the cabinet along with three others on Wednesday, Chairman, House Committee on Media and Public affairs, Zakari Mohammed (APC, Kwara), told journalists yesterday in Abuja that the lawmakers had done their part and it was the responsibility of the executive arm to prosecute.

  He said: “Our primary responsibility as a House is to expose corruption. For us, we have done our job and I think we are on the same page on this matter with the president. For us, we are within the confines of the law to expose corruption and we at least have been fair to both parties.

“We have identified the breaches and brought them to the public fore. We in the seventh assembly would continue to do that. Part of our legislative agenda is to look at areas of linkages of government that we need to compartmentalised as much as possible, especially areas of wastages. So for us we have done our job.”
