Nigerian Army intensifies operations to wipe out Boko Haram

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai has said that a joint operation to wipe out the remnant of the Boko Haram terrorist group is currently on-going at Nigeria’s borders with Niger Republic, Chad and Cameroon.

The Army Chief said this while speaking at Damaturu, the Yobe State capital, during a visit to the recently established Army Special Forces school in Buni Yadi.

He added that the Army is also consolidating on the gains made so far in the fight against insurgency by opening up more roads that were once controlled by the insurgents.

“To further consolidate the successes recorded so far, we are also opening roads and ensuring that people move about freely without any fear of attacks.

The Army Chief further stated that the Multi-national Joint Task Force is operating in the northern part of Borno and the southern part of Niger Republic ans some part of Chad.

He assured Nigerians that efforts have been intensified to root out insurgency.
