Police IG bans illegal mobile phone search by policemen

The Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, has in a secular directed that policemen should forthwith stop accessing people’s mobile telephones illegally.

Abayomi Shogunle, the Officer in Charge of Complaint Response Unit of the force said this on his tweeter handle.

Officers of the Nigerian police force in recent times have been engaging in illegal searching of citizens’ mobile phones despite properly identifying themselves.
