Wife of Ebola survivor delivers perfectly healthy baby
Opeyemi Adejoro, the wife of Dr. Adewale Adejoro, an Ebola survivor, has given birth to a perfectly healthy baby girl at First Consultants Medical Centre, Lagos.

The baby was born at 7.24 pm on Tuesday, December 1, 2015.

First Consultants is the hospital where Patrick Sawyer, the Liberian who brought the Ebola virus disease into Nigeria, was attended to before he died and spread the disease, leading to the death of 12 persons in Lagos and Port Harcourt.

The Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Benjamin Ohiaeri, announced the birth of the baby girl yesterday.
Ohiaeri said: “The baby girl, weighing 3kg at birth (its placenta 450g), a product of a term gestation was delivered following strict guidelines and recommendations from the Centre for Disease Control (CDC), USA, through the pre-natal and delivery stages.”
Dr. Ada Igonoh of the First Consultants Medical Centre, another Ebola survivor, also recently took delivery of a baby girl in the United States.

Nigeria won global praise last year for its containment of the Ebola virus disease and was declared free of the virus by the World Health Organisation (WHO) three months after it was imported into the country by Mr. Sawyer.
