Mexico and Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez breaks collarbone

Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez is set to miss the start of pre-season training after breaking his collarbone playing for Mexico.

Hernandez was injured in a Gold Cup warm-up game against Honduras in Houston and is likely to be out for up to four weeks and miss the tournament.

The 27-year-old has scored 59 goals in 154 games for United but is expected to leave Old Trafford this summer.

He spent last season on loan at Real Madrid but they opted against a deal.

"The fracture of the right collarbone has been confirmed," said Mexico team doctor Gerardo Aguilar.

Mexico coach Miguel Herrera said: "It will have an impact on the group but we're just thinking about what is ahead.

"This is an unfortunate situation we cannot change."
