The Department of State Services has released Gordon Obua, the Chief
Security Officer to former president Goodluck Jonathan after spending
six days in detention.
Obua was released on Tuesday night hours after addressing a press conference to dispel rumours that he had died in custody.
Sources said that the DSS operative was allowed to go home around 10pm.
The CSO had told journalists that he was being debriefed by the Service
after completing his tour of duty at the Presidential Villa.
There had been reports that Obua's detention was in connection with
investigation into security vote spendings, alleged financial
mismanagement and money laundering at Aso Villa under his watch as CSO.
The DSS operative who suffers from diabetes and hypertension took ill on Monday and was reportedly treated at a hospital.
His ill-health spawned speculations that he might have died in custody
prompting the management of the DSS to hurriedly organise a press
conference to debunk the rumours and anxiety.
Obua had told journalists that he was alive and healthy, adding that the DSS management treated him well.
