The
Portuguese coach will continue to collect £8.5 million a year at
Stamford Bridge, according to the London Evening Standard with the deal
expected to be made public before the start of the season.
Chelsea
owner Roman Abramovich was apparently keen to extend Mourinho's
contract after he led the club to their first Premier League title since
2010 last season and won the League Cup with a 2-0 final success
against Tottenham Hotspur.
According to the
paper, "The Blues always intended to conduct negotiations during the
summer and were confident it would go smoothly."
Mourinho
returned to Chelsea for a second spell in the summer of 2013 after three
years at Real Madrid, and reached the semi-finals of the Champions
League, losing to Atletico Madrid, but ended his first season back at
the club without a trophy.
Assistants Rui Faria and Silvinho
Louro have also been handed new contracts. Mourinho returned to
Chelsea's training ground on Tuesday to begin work ahead of the
pre-season tour of the US that begins on July 15.
