13 dead, 9 injured in two suicide bomb attacks in Potiskum, Yobe state

Two bomb blasts, which occurred around 12:30 p.m. at Duruwa, a local alcohol joint as well as the the office of the vigilance group in Potiskum town of Potiskum Local Government Area of Yobe State, on Monday, have left no fewer than 13 people dead and nine injured.

According to a member of a vigilance group who witnessed the incident, the commander of the group, Alhaji Ado Commander, was one of the 13 people who died and were taken to the General Hospital, Potiskum mortuary.



According to him, one of the suicide bombers had targeted their office, and particularly their commander, who has been very active in helping the military in the fight against insurgency in the northeast.

He said, "We have been giving them (Boko Haram) tough time around Potiskum and environs and have arrested so many Boko Haram fighters including some of their commanders, who are currently in the custody of security agencies."
A source in Potiskum said pieces of human flesh littered the local alcohol joint.
