"Tottenham have ruined so many players; ...I would not recommend anyone signs for them" - Heurelho Gomes

Heurelho Gomes has launched a scathing attack on Tottenham - warning players not to sign for the club.

Watford keeper Gomes spent six years at White Hart Lane before leaving in 2014 and has accused the club of ruining the careers of the players they have signed.

Speaking about the struggles of fellow Brazilian Paulinho, who has only played 15 games this season and completed 90 minutes just twice, Gomes says fault lies with Spurs - not the player.

'It’s the club (who are to blame). Certainly, I would not recommend to anyone (to join Spurs),' Gomes told ESPN.
The 34-year-old goes on to highlight how Willian, who rejected Tottenham for Chelsea, is thriving at Stamford Bridge and also cites the struggles Roberto Soldado and Erik Lamela - both of whom have under performed after big-money moves.
He said: 'They paid £28million for Soldado, and they don’t play him. Or look (at) Lamela, who was a great (prospect) in Europe, but today you watch Tottenham games and he looks like he can’t play football at all.'
Gomes has rebuilt his career at Watford, helping the club achieve promotion to the Premier League, and is close to agreeing a new contract with the club.

His existing deal expires next month, but talks over a new 12-month deal are well underway.
