South African President, Jacob Zuma, has congratulated Nigeria on the successful conduct of the 2015 presidential election.
A
statement by the spokesperson of the South African Department of
International Relations and Cooperation, Clayson Monyela, said that
South Africa remains committed to enhancing the historic relations
between both countries.
The Independent
National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared General Muhammadu Buhari,
winner of Nigeria’s presidential election, defeating the incumbent
President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan by over 2 million votes.
The
announcement was made by the Chairman of INEC, Professor Attahiru Jega,
in the early hours of Wednesday, April 1, in Abuja, the nation’s
capital.
This is the first time an opposition party is winning the presidential election in Nigeria.
