Chelsea captain John Terry becomes joint-highest scoring defender in Premier League history

Chelsea captain John Terry has become the joint-highest goal-scoring defender in Premier League history.

Terry's goal in the 3-1 win at Leicester on Wednesday was his 38th - the same number former Everton player David Unsworth managed.

The now retired Unsworth was a regular penalty-taker and free-kick specialist, making 34-year-old Terry's feat of catching him even more impressive.

Next on the list is former Leeds man Ian Harte who managed 28 goals.

However, Harte also took penalties.

Terry's Chelsea career is littered with crucial goals and he will almost certainly add to his impressive tally to take the title of most deadly defender all on his own.

Top 5 Premier League goal scoring defenders:

1. John Terry, 38

1. David Unsworth, 38

3. Ian Harte, 28

4. Leighton Baines, 26

5. William Gallas, 25.
