Arsenal's Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain suffers injury setback

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has suffered a setback in his recovery from injury and is likely to miss Arsenal’s FA Cup semi-final against Reading.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has not played since tearing his hamstring in the FA Cup win at Manchester United last month, but he is facing at least another fortnight on the sidelines.

The 21-year-old had been battling a groin problem when he hurt his hamstring and he has since aggravated the injury which could result in him having surgery at the end of the season.

“It is taking a bit longer than I thought because he has a groin inflammation. It is related to everything before,” manager Arsene Wenger explained.

“I hope it does not become a long-term problem, but he faces a hurdle this week in training. We will see if he has recovered well.

“The end of this week and the start of next week are important to see if he got rid of that inflammation. It is not his hamstring anymore. It is groin inflammation.”
