Lukas
Podolski has said he has not ruled out returning to Arsenal once his
loan spell at Internazionale has come to an end. The Germany forward
joined the Serie A side in January but has yet to find the net and said
on Wednesday that there is no clause for Inter to buy him once the
season is over.
“I
don’t regret joining Inter,” the 29-year-old said. “I was the one who
did not want a clause [for Inter to buy him at the end of the season]
because now I can evaluate everything in the summer freely and make a
decision [about my future] then.
“My
chapter with Arsenal is not closed. I still have a year left on my
contract [there] and always got on really well with the guys and the
fans.”
Podolski
joined Arsenal from FC Cologne in 2012 but it became clear at the start
of the season that he did not feature in Arsène Wenger’s plans. In
November he voiced his dissatisfaction with the situation and joined
Roberto Mancini’s Inter on loan on 5 January.
“Things may not have gone according to plan so far at Inter but I always want to look at the positives,” Podolski added.
