Former
military Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, Thursday
reassured Nigerians that contrary to fears being expressed in some
quarters, there will be no interim government.
He stated
that the federal government has assured the National Peace Committee on
2015 Elections that there will no such government.
The
former president rather stated that elections will hold as scheduled,
adding that the May 29 handover date remains sacrosanct.
Abubakar who is the chairman of the Peace Committee, made up of security
Chiefs, party and religious leaders, told journalists during a press
conference that with the assurance given by President Goodluck Jonathan,
elections will hold.
He further urged party leaders to call
their followers to order, warning that the country cannot afford to
entertain another violence after the elections.
