Andy
Murray has moved up to third place in the world rankings at Rafael
Nadal’s expense. Nadal lost his first semi-final on clay for 12 years
last weekend as Fabio Fognini saw off the Spaniard to book his place in
the final of the Rio Open – which he lost to David Ferrer – as he
dropped down a spot to fourth in the world rankings.
Murray
was last in action when he crashed out of the Rotterdam Open 10 days ago
in a defeat to Gilles Simon at the quarter-final stage – his first
tournament since losing to the world No1, Novak Djokovic, in the
Australian Open final last month.
The
27-year-old Scot is in the draw for this week’s Dubai Duty Free
Championships where he is seeded third and takes on Luxembourg’s Gilles
Müller in the first round.
