Michael
Carrick will be out for four weeks with a muscle injury, the Manchester
United manager, Louis van Gaal, has told the club’s website.
The
news of Carrick’s absence is a big blow to United, who lost the England
midfielder for four months due to an ankle injury at the start of the
season.
This would mean Carrick would miss the
Premier League matches against Leicester City on Saturday followed by
those against West Ham United, Burnley, Swansea City and Sunderland, as
well as the FA Cup fourth-round replay against Cambridge United and any
fifth-round tie.
United’s website also reported that Ashley Young is getting “closer” to full fitness following his hamstring injury.
