Chelsea striker Diego Costa has failed in his appeal against a Football Association charge of violent conduct.
Costa
was hit with the following his alleged stamp on Liverpool’s Emre Can
during Tuesday’s Capital One Cup second-leg semi-final at Stamford
Bridge.
The incident was not seen by match
officials, but the FA decided to charge the striker with violent conduct
after reviewing video evidence.
The striker decided to contest
the charge with the full support of his club, but an independent
regulatory commission have upheld the charge and handed down a
three-match ban.
As a result, Chelsea will be without the player
for Saturday’s top-of-the-table Premier League clash against Manchester
City as well as the games against Aston Villa and Everton.
