Jose Mourinho hails ‘fantastic’ Chelsea

Jose Mourinho has hailed his players after Chelsea hammered Schalke 5-0 in Germany to qualify for the Champions League knockout stages as group winners.

A header from John Terry in the third minute set the Blues on there way with a strike from Willian and a Jan Kirchoff own goal ended the game as a contest before the break.

Two more late on courtesy of substitutes Didier Drogba and Ramires wrapped up the rout and Chelsea’s current form left Mourinho purring afterwards.

“The team played a fantastic match,” he said. “At this moment this team is very mature and very confident.

“To win 5-0 away in the Champions League is not normal. To win 5-0 in Germany is even more not normal. The performance was complete. It was very impressive.

“We have a good team. Obviously we can lose and the bad result is waiting for us. But the reality is the team is playing very well.”
