Radamel Falcao thanks Manchester United; ...wants long term stay

Radamel Falcao believes Manchester United took a gamble when they decided to sign him on loan and he hopes to repay their faith in the years ahead.

Falcao developed a strong reputation during spells at Porto, Atletico Madrod and Monaco, but a cruciate knee ligament injury prevented him from showcasing his talent at the World Cup.

He returned for Monaco at the start of the season, scoring two goals in three appearances for the Ligue 1 side, but fitness concerns threatened to derail his move to Old Trafford.

However, United pressed ahead with the loan deal and the Colombian is grateful the club were prepared to take the gamble.

“Manchester United were the ones that gambled on me when it was very difficult to do so,” he explained to Spanish radio station Onda Cero.

“It has been a very difficult year, not just in my professional career.

“What happened at the start of the year affected me in every way, but it has also helped me grow as a human being, to think about many things, to mature.”
Falcao finally opened his account for United when he scored the winner in the 2-1 defeat of Everton on Sunday but he admits he still needs time to reach his peak.
“In terms of my thoughts and plans for the future, I want to stay at Manchester United for the coming years,” Falcao said.

“I am still going to need some time to be okay, but I am feeling very comfortable and very good on the pitch, in harmony with myself, with the ball and with football.”
