Former
President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Mustapha Akanbi (retd), has
expressed disappointment over the negotiation for a ceasefire between
the Federal Government and the Boko Haram sect.
Akanbi, a
pioneer chairman of Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related
Offences Commission, ICPC, spoke in an interview with journalists
yesterday on the occasion of the 30th Convocation lecture of University
of Ilorin.
He said it was wrong for the
government to have waited till now when the election was fast
approaching before negotiating with Boko Haram.
According to him,
”I have said it before. Government must harness its people and overcome
the Boko Haram sect. We cant go on like this. Elections are coming up
in February and we are still fighting.”
