Manchester United defender Jonny Evans will be out of action for a month with an ankle injury.
The
Northern Ireland international defender underwent a scan yesterday on
the injury he sustained in the weekend defeat to Leicester at the King
Power Stadium and initial results indicate he will be out of action
until mid-October.
The injury to Evans is
another blow to United manager Louis Van Gaal whose side have struggled
this season and are already eight points behind leaders Chelsea after
just five games.
Van Gaal finds himself struggling for numbers
in defence as Phil Jones faces another three weeks out with a hamstring
injury and Tyler Blackett is suspended.
However, there is some
good news as £28m signing Luke Shaw is expected to finally make his
competitive debut this weekend against West Ham after recovering from a
hamstring injury.
The current injury crisis at Old Trafford
will probably mean that left-back Marcus Rojo will line out in central
defence this weekend.
