Louis
van Gaal is sweating on Ander Herrera’s back injury with Manchester
United needing more time to determine its seriousness after postponing a
planned statement on the club website regarding the problem on Monday
evening.
The Spanish midfielder was taken off in the
74th-minute of Saturday’s 2-1 win over West Ham United to make him the
10th of Van Gaal’s squad who is injured.
Later
that night Herrera suggested he was optimistic about the issue. On his
Facebook page Herrera posted: “Three very important points! I hope my
back is fine soon. Thanks for your messages!”
However concerns
have since grown that the 25-year-old may have more of a problem than
first thought. With Wayne Rooney suspended for three matches following
his red card in the game with West Ham, Van Gaal will not want to lose
yet another player as he prepares for Everton’s visit on Sunday with the
manager aiming to try and register consecutive wins for the first time
in his tenure.
