The
Abia State Police Command, on Tuesday, paraded three female suspects,
Blessing Oluchukwu, Promise Onyezu, and Nkechi Kalu, arrested at
Osisioma Aba, while allegedly negotiating to sell the unborn child of
one of them, Onyezu, said to be six months old pregnant.
According to police, one of the suspects, Kalu, had earlier collected an
advance of N50,000 from a suspected buyer, one Blessing Oluchukwu.
The
command also paraded one Joseph Edet Essien a native of Ifetai in
Calabar, Cross River State, who allegedly stole a three-year-old child,
Dorcas Emmanuel Usen.
Parading the suspect, Police Public
Relations Officer, Geoffrey Ogbonna , said the suspected child thief was
arrested with the victim at Aba while negotiating with a buyer now at
large.
He said upon interrogation, the suspect confessed he stole
the victim from Calabar where the mother had kept her in the custody of
her siblings .
There was however, a mild drama when the suspect
was asked to pose for a photograph with the victim but the innocent
child never wanted him to come close to her, as she became hostile and
burst into tears.
