Man arrested for raping 15-year-old girl

Policemen attached to the Obalende Police Division, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, have arrested 22-year-old Qudus Giwa of the Sabo area of Ijebu Ode, for defiling a 15-year-old girl.

He was arrested on Friday, July 25, but was said to have committed the offence on Monday, July, 21.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Muyiwa Adejobi, said the suspect had unlawful carnal knowledge of the young victim on the fateful day.


He said the victim personally reported the matter to the police.

Adejobi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said the suspect had been transferred to the Anti- Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the Department of Criminal Investigation, Eleweran, Abeokuta for proper investigation and prosecution as directed by the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ikemefuna Okoye.

He said, “The Commissioner of Police commended the victim for her courage to report the matter to the police not minding any social stigma; and promised to make sure that justice is done in the case.”
