Liverpool have agreed a fee of £8.5m with Queens Park Rangers for the signing of Loic Remy, according to Sky Sports.
The
France striker spent enjoyed a successful spell on loan with Newcastle
United last season, scoring 14 goals in 26 Premier League starts and
Brendan Rodgers has been quick to snap up his services for last term’s
runners-up.
Remy is believed to have a clause
in his contract allowing him to speak to clubs who have qualified for
the Champions League if a certain fee is met and now that Liverpool have
lodged an acceptable bid, QPR have given him permission to negotiate
terms.
The striker would be the fifth arrival at Liverpool this
summer as Rodgers looks to reshape his squad following the departure of
Luis Suarez to Barcelona for £65m.
Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert,
Lazar Markovic and Emre Can have already been recruited in the last few
weeks and Remy’s arrival will bolster the club’s forward options.
