Former
Aviation Minister, Mr. Femi Fani Kayode, said yesterday he was no
longer a member of All Progressives Congress, APC, citing alleged
allocation of all key positions in the party to Muslims.
According to him, “it is unacceptable for APC to also want to present a Muslim-Muslim ticket in 2015 presidential elections.”
But
the APC in a swift reaction, said Fani-Kayode was never its member,
saying his claim of being a leader of the party was a figment of his
imagination.
Fani-Kayode, who said he had
returned to Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, also accused the APC of
playing politics with every issue in the country.
APC spokesman,
Alhaji Lai Mohammed, had claimed in an interview with Premium Times
magazine yesterday that the former Aviation Minister was never a member
of the APC but Fani-Kayode said he could no loner fraternise with a
party that had relegated Christians within its fold to the background.
He
said APC was being run as a cult, wondering why the party was always
faulting every move made by the federal government to checkmate the
fundamentalist Islamic sect, Boko Haram.
He said: “I have never
been and will never be part of a cult and the fact that people like
Mohammed and those he represents within the APC are not comfortable with
any form of admonition or criticism from senior party members like me
speaks volumes.”
