Alexander Buttner set to leave Manchester United

Alexander Buttner has revealed is to leave Manchester United and join Dinamo Moscow.

Buttner joined United from Vitesse in 2012, but he struggled to force his way into the first team with Sir Alex Ferguson and David Moyes preferring Patrice Evra on the left.

In total the 25-year-old made just 13 league appearances in two seasons and with Louis Van Gaal taking over at Old Trafford, the Dutchman does not expect to get anymore game time.

Indeed, Buttner has rarely been selected for the Netherlands under Van Gaal and he believes the time has come for him to move on from Old Trafford.

“Van Gaal never gave me the chance in the Dutch national team, despite being voted man of the match fourteen times at Manchester United,” Buttner explained to De Telegraaf.

“Apparently, he is not very confident about me. So I think this is the right moment to leave.”
Buttner is set to undergo a medical at Dinamo Moscow in the coming days and he is hopeful that they can push on after finishing fourth in the Russian Premier League last season.
“I am convinced that the club now can challenge for the championship and then move into the Champions League,” Buttner said.
