Protesting youth burn 2 churches and attacks school in Katsina

Fundamentalists Monday burnt two churches and destroyed a school in Funtua, a town in Katsina State, during a protest over the alleged blasphemy of Prophet Mohammed by a schoolteacher.

Ideal International School, located in Tudun Wada Quarters in Funtua, was partially damaged after a mob attacked it because a teacher set a question alleged to be offensive to Prophet Muhammad and his mother.

The unrest started when some students at one Ideal School, a private secondary school in the community, reported to youth outside the school that a teacher was teaching an SS2 class lessons that were ‘blasphemous’ in Islam.

According to a witness, the angry youth took to the streets of Funtua, vandalising property and ended up attacking two churches.
