Chelsea look set to lose striker Samuel Eto’o at the end of the season after he opened talks with Besiktas over a move.
The
33-year-old, whose contract at Stamford Bridge expires in the summer,
has established himself as the Blues’ top scoring striker this term with
12 goals.
But despite Jose Mourinho hinting
that he might offer the experienced frontman a new deal, Besiktas are
keen to snatch him away.
The Turkish club are believed to have
flown senior officials to London this week to hold negotiations with
Eto’o, with a two-year contract on the table.
It’s not clear
whether he would be keen on a move to Turkey, but the security of a 24
month contract as well as the possibility to join the coaching staff
after would make the switch attractive.
Besiktas have close
links with Chelsea and they have been trying to bag a big name striker
for months, having held talks with the club over Demba Ba during the
January window.
