The president visited the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero; the Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade, the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, and Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwanu Lukman Akiolu in what he described as a "private visit".

At the palaces of the traditional rulers yesterday, President Jonathan reiterate that the visits had no political undertone; maintaining that he visit to pay homage to the native rulers.
