Terry was forced to miss the weekend’s 3-0 victory over Newcastle with a double muscle injury and was not deemed fit for the 1-1 draw at West Brom on Tuesday.
It is unclear if the captain will be ready for the fifth-round tie with City but manager Jose Mourinho will be hoping to have the 33-year-old fit given the uncertainty surrounding Gary Cahill.
The England international sustained a calf injury shortly before Victor Anichebe heading home an 87th-minute equaliser and he is facing a race to be fit for the Cup tie.
“Once I got the knock, I was struggling from then on,” Cahill explained after the match.
“It happened when a West Brom player went for a header and I was on the floor, and he landed just inside my knee/calf.
“It’s sore and we’ll see what it’s like later.”
