The
Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP, has vowed to continue with
the six months old industrial action because of the irresponsive
attitudes of federal government towards Polytechnic education.
Speaking at a world press conference convened in Yola Wednesday, the
National Public Relations Officer,ASUP, Clement Chirman said the union
had decided to take the struggles to the Northeast to seek the support
of the masses on the issue.
He said there was
the need for well trained technical manpower to meet the current
challenges of technological development posed by global trends.
He
said that since the beginning of the strike by the union last year, the
Federal Government has not showed concern over the action.
