Man burns 9-year-old son's face for stealing biscuit

A 36-year-old man, Mohammed Suleiman, is being detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department of the Nigerian Police, Kogi State Command, for allegedly inflicting burns on the face and mouth of his nine-year-old son, Yakubu Mohammed.

The state command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Redengha Tampa, on Sunday said Suleiman used a log of burning firewood to inflict the burns on the victim because the lad had allegedly stolen some biscuits.


The police spokesman added that neighbours, who prevented Suleiman from inflicting more harm on Mohammed, reported the incident to the police, leading to the suspect’s arrest and detention.


He added that the victim, who attends an Arabic school, was receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.

Tampa said, “The suspect will be charged to court at the completion of our investigations.”
