Twenty
of 24 lawmakers in the Kwara state House of Assembly who were elected
on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party have defected to the
opposition All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Speaker of the Assembly, Rasak Atunwa announced the defection at plenary a while ago.
The
defection was not unexpected. The state governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed as
well as his political godfather, Bukola Saraki, had earlier defected to
the APC.
Earlier, on January 8, 27 of the 30 members of the Sokoto State House of Assembly defected to the APC from the PDP.
The
lawmakers defected shortly after the state governor, Aliyu Wamakko,
joined four other governors to move from the PDP to the APC.
