The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) Tuesday bemoaned the absence of
effective framework needed to curtail further spread of Ebola Virus
Disease (EVD) in the country.
Speaking at the end of its
National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Akwa, the Anambra State
capital, the NMA said though it commends the tremendous efforts of
government in halting the spread of the disease, there were still gaps
in terms of the necessary structures needed to stop the virus from
spreading across the country.
NMA President,
Dr Lawrence Obembe who read the communique said "NEC commended the
efforts of the Federal Government and the Lagos State Government so far
in containing the spread of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) outbreak, and
attempts at establishing isolation centres in the 36 states of the
Federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)."
